Preparing for the holidays...

Monday, November 5, 2018

How do you prepare for the holidays? Us? We are planning people so typically I put up all of my decorations by the second week of November and then, once the real trees are available, I'll purchase our tree and have it up by Thanksgiving. Now that we are shop owners we are realizing just how far in advance we have to plan. For example, this year we are bit late to the party on figuring out we should have all of our Christmas product and imagery uploaded to the shop the day after Halloween! Who knew? Not us, that's for sure. But it's a live and learn type of thing and, believe me, next year we will be better prepared.

This is our first year having our shop open for the holidays and we are learning that planning in advance...I mean way in advance, is really important in the retail world. So here we are with the holidays upon us and we are still new to this shop thing, so please be sure to keep up to date with us as we navigate this holiday season and check back with us from time to time to view our new product additions and to learn more about us. With that being said, we are slowly but surely integrating the Holiday season into our shop so stay tuned!

Old to New: Repurposed Farm House Style Chalkboard

Thursday, August 30, 2018

My husband loves to find vintage pieces that he can repurpose and this window from the 1940's was one of his recent finds. The wood framed window was in a bit of despair with some cracks in the glass and a lot of peeling paint. By removing the glass and sanding the paint off we were able to see just how beautiful the wood frame really was. He cut and inserted a chalkboard into the frame and painted and distressed the wood. He even added a wooden ledge/shelf for storing chalk and an eraser. Now this beauty is ready for it's next home!
